Local Area
A walker's paradise is how the location of Thanh Van 1 Hotel would best be described since it places you right at the entrance to the Hoi An Ancient Town. A walk of less than five minutes takes you to the Japanese Covered Bridge, which is really the heart of this UNESCO World Heritage site. From there, you can spend days on end meandering through those enchanting, lantern-lit streets, exploring old historic house treasures like the Tan Ky Old House; visiting colorful Chinese Assembly Halls; and rummaging silk shops, art galleries, and souvenir and craft shops by the dozens. The whole of that Ancient Town is rated friendly to walkers, which adds more fun to exploration.
You can eat some of Vietnam’s best food when you stay in for the wonderful culinary experience. Just steps away from the hotel, travelers are greeted by the famous Banh Mi Phuong, first made popular by Anthony Bourdain for an authentic Vietnamese sandwich. And 10 minutes on foot further is the vibrant Hoi An Central Market where you can taste plenty of local specialties, such as Cao Lầu noodles and White Rose dumplings, at the various food stalls. Right beside it is also Hoi An Night Market, which is a very beautiful decorated place with lanterns all over and street foods to enjoy, just across aquatic An Hoi Bridge.
The location is great for practical needs; ATMs, pharmacies, and convenience stores are all within a few steps of the hotel. There are many bicycle and motorbike rental shops around, which is quite convenient for exploring the countryside. The offices of the major tour operators are around there where one can book a trip to My Son Sanctuary or the Marble Mountains. It’s unbelievable how everything in Hoi An can be done from your front step.
