Guest Tips

One of the nicest things one can do to discover the beautiful countryside around Hoi An is rent a bike, which the hotel often can arrange. Here's a great tip: Take an easy and flat 5 km ride through scenic rice paddies and small villages to the beautiful An Bang Beach. You just may have the whole day lazing on sand, swimming in the sea, and relishing fresh seafood at one of many laid-back beach restaurants only to roll back in late afternoon on bicycles.

For good value while on your visit to the Old Town, it is highly recommended that you buy the official entrance ticket. This one pass permits you to explore five heritage sites, among them an old house, museum, communal house, and Japanese Bridge. One good tip is to visit the main sites early morning or in the late afternoon as it’s a strategic plan to evade the midday heat as well as big groups of tourists. At night it’s absolutely fantastic with all the lanterns shining in various colors.

Participate in a cooking class in Hoi An for an experience to cherish for a lifetime. The town of Hoi An is very popular for its food and there are a number of exceptional cooking schools that provide half-day courses, usually along with a ‘fun’ visit to the local market to buy fresh ingredients for ‘learning to cook’ classic dishes like spring rolls and ‘pho’. It’s just the best taste in the world to get you tied up with the local culture.

Finally, while you shop, it’s recommended that you visit one of the famous tailors in Hoi An to have some custom clothing made. The town boasts extremely skilled and lightning-fast tailors who stitch up great suits, dresses, and shirts at a fraction of what it would cost in your own country. For the best result, bring a picture or an existing piece of clothing you’d like them to copy, and set aside time for at least two or three different fittings for that perfect fit.
